Business Central Licenses
Business Central is a part of the Microsoft Dynamics family, however it is a complete standalone product with its own licensing.
The two main licenses are Essentials and Premium and they are based on functionality included with the product.
The Essentials license comes with the majority of the Business Central ERP functionality described in the following table.
The Premium License contains all of the Essentials modules with the addition of the Sales Order Management and Manufacturing Modules described in the
On top of these 2 main License types there are also several other secondary licenses that can be acquired.
Device License: The Dynamics 365 Business Central Device license allows multiple users to simultaneously use a device that is covered by the license. The limitations of the Device license is that it cannot run Scheduled Tasks and cannot be the first User to login into an environment
Team Member License: Team Members license is for users who “are not tied to a particular function” and who only need “basic functionality”, such as “read access as well as some write access for select light tasks”.
External Accountant License: For organizations with third-party accountants who wish to connect to Business Central. External Accountant licenses provide all the same use rights as assigned Business Central licenses except access to user set up or administrative tasks.
Internal Administrator License: This license is applied to Global Administrators and they have access to the administration functions within Business Central but are unable to perform and transactions in the system.
*Microsoft 365 users can access Business Central data in Microsoft Teams, using only their Microsoft 365 license. This capability is intended for employees across the organization to participate in team decisions and collaboration when Business Central records are shared with them.
